Texas wine vineyards are located across the entire state. Texas is large and diverse. Though the original vines planted in El Paso can be traced back to 1560 with Spanish missionaries, the industry really became of age in the 1970's when a small group of farmers with the help of Texas A&M University planted experimental vineyards across the state. There was no educational or legal support for those pioneers.
That industry has grown from 2 wineries in 1977 to almost 1,000. In each region hard working families have given their lives to develop vineyards and wineries that speak to Texas culture. The Arrgos family, immigrants from Albania, pioneered grape growing north of Dallas - Ft. Worth.
