The construction of the train layout in this book started in 2008 and was completed in 2015. I built this layout to entertain me, my grandchildren, and my friends. I hope you enjoy this layout tour!

All the photos in this book were taken with a Nikon D5200 camera set at f12 at an ISO setting of 100. The images were focus stacked using the Zerene Stacker program from Zerene Systems. Each photo is a composite of 30 to 100 individual images, all focus-stacked in digital layers and composited together. Focus Stacking is a technique which allows a photographer to stack digital images, each with a different focus point. When combined in a multi-image stack, the result is an image with tremendous depth of field.

Focus stacking was used to produce almost all the photos in this book. Unlike most photos of small models, these photos have fantastic depth of field and everything is in focus. It makes the images look almost real!
