This third book in the Orchard Valley Stories traces the life of Robbie Hinkle, the young man we met in Esther's Legacy and whom we began to root for in His Hand is Not Shortened. Abandoned by his father when he was eight, he grows up longing for a father - the kind his dad never was and would never be. Opening an old trunk that his father left behind, he discovers the story of five generations of Hinkle fathers: from his great-great-great-grandfather Abraham to his own absent father Richard. His fathers' stories reveal a spiritual legacy that has come to Robbie and which he determines to direct forward into the lives of his own children, and theirs, and theirs.

Beloved characters from the other books are still part of the Orchard Valley world, intertwined with new personalities in Robbie's own story. Overarching everything is the ongoing story of God's transforming grace in the unlikeliest people.
