This research explores what life was like in their homeland and provides biographical sketches of their accomplishments and descendants. The Kessler-Zaggl family persevered through good and bad times in raising their family once they arrived in the United States. Their religion and first- and second-generation German-speaking residents gave them emotional and community support. Christian and Maria's descendants entered a variety of fields, including education, medicine, dentistry, nursing, retail, engineering, shipping, finance, law enforcement, and employees at large and small corporations.
