Disruption

Alex successfully moved her detective service from Cincinnati, Ohio to Evanston Illinois in her quest to raise her newly adopted daughter, Aurea, the way her parents had raised her. In fact, she now lived in the upstairs of the house where she had grown up and her daughter had her old bedroom.

Her parents were pleased with her decision and embraced her adopted daughter as their granddaughter.

A call from the Illinois, Lieutenant governor requesting assistance in reducing the drug flow into Chicago ushered in a very different and impossible case that she and her team decided to take on.

Reducing drug flow into Chicago was like standing on the sea shore and trying to keep the tide from coming in.

Alex activated her team and they agreed that the best they could do was to temporarily make life for the drug cartels miserable by confiscating the money they were sending back to Mexico.

Using drones and one of the teams computer hacking capabilities her team was able to prevent multimillions of dollars from being transported by semi-truck back to Mexico.

Success by confiscating money was indeed a pain that was not to be ignored by the four dominant drug cartels operating in Chicago. The payback was a plan that put close to one hundred men armed with fifty caliber and AR 15 machine guns in three semi-trucks to take out Alex's team of five and a handful of DEA agents. Fire power wise it was a David and Goliath biblical event.

The outcome was also of biblical proportion. The ambush employing the massive firepower of the combined cartels did little since not a single of the attackers survived.

One cartel was not satisfied to admit defeat. That cartel leader chose to abduct Alex's adopted daughter in an attempt to lure her into a trap where he planned to kill her.

The mistake was his and he met his maker when Alex's team invaded his office where he had brought Alex's daughter who turned out to be as deadly as her mother.

Like mother, like daughter took on a new meaning when Aurea was the one that did more damage than the rest of the team combined.

The final place for mother and daughter was to be sitting together in a hot tub and enjoying a cool lemonade. The question that remains unanswered is what will Aurea do next.
