A DIMENSION-HOPPER'S GUIDE TO PLANET HEART
Just where and what is this Planet Heart? Planet Heart is a delightful little planet located in a dimension not from Earth. Heart has never had a major war. No Heartling would dream of eating an animal. And people generally live long and happy lives. Still, Heart does have its problems.
So, what's this thing called the Cognosphere? The Cognosphere actually created Heart from some of Earth's wayward Abstractions. As a benevolent stratum of living thought she shields the Planet from Rogue Abstractions and provides magic for Witches and Wizards to draw on.
Who's on Heart? Heart is a spectacularly diverse planet. Supernaturals include the Sun God Orb, the Moon Goddess Celeste, and Cupid. Super Humans encompass Wisdams, Physards, Vampires, Walking Skeletons, Elves, Hybrids, Trolls, Ogres, Fairies, and Wombie Zombies. Humans are sometimes disparagingly referred to as Only-Humans. Some animals and objects engage in conversation.
And the rift?
Through their profligate use of spells, Witches and Wizards have stressed the fabric of the Cognosphere, causing a rift through which Rogue Abstractions (such as Shades of Meaning and Harbingers of Doom) can invade the Planet-changing the texts of books and distorting memory. The phenomenon is popularly known as Global Swarming
Did you say Vampires?
Unfortunately, yes. There are two kinds. Vyolents (also known as Wilds) and Vyolets (Tames) whose skin is tinted violet by the blood substitute v.-8 created by the vampire husband and wife scientists, Vladymir and Vyvika Vylms. Now the Vylmses have invented a procedure intended to preserve the most desirable attributes of the Vampire (great strength and sensory powers and life spans close to immortality) while getting rid of the worst (dependence on blood, inability to consume real food, the need to sleep during the day, mortal vulnerability to the light, lack of a mirror image, inability to see any color other than red). As the test case for the new revamping procedure, they have turned the Vyolet Veronique into Heart's first Revamp.
