Humankind has spread throughout the stars, but has still learned precious little about how to live together. In a backwater star system, a vicious war rages between two dystopias, each trying to surpass the other in brutality. Caught in the middle is a young recruit, one of the crew of a tank destroyer, a machine designed to hunt the battlefield’s most lethal armored monstrosities. As she faces murderous enemies, inscrutable technology and the psychological toll of war, it’s all an ordinary soldier can do just to survive. Even if she can escape death, will she be able to hold onto her humanity?
