as a prophet and others call a domestic
terrorist. His raid on the arsenal at
Harpers Ferry and subsequent hanging in
1859 preceded the American Civil War
by 16 months. This story looks at events
largely from Brown’s own perspective.
The reader can decide whether he was a
terrorist or prophet.
