Penney Knightly is a poet and artist. She is a survivor of over twenty years of intense physical, emotional, mental, and sexual abuse, themes often found in her work.
Poerty and art have been an integral part of her recovery from depression, dissociation, and other effects of severe trauma. Today, victims of abuse and those who support them find comfort, understanding, and inspiration in her poems.
Drawing from her own personal experience, Penney explores subjects such as attending therapy, overcoming guilt, and finding acceptance and closure. This first collection, Recovery Manual, features poems previously published in Awakened Voices, Anti-Heroin Chic, and Cleaver Magazine, plus many previously unpublished works.
