We currently live in a world where selfishness is at an all-time high. People are about their own business and seldom concerned with the well-being of others. The Bible commands us to do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others (Phil. 2:3-4, NASB). Combating the sin of selfishness requires that we learn the art of humility, which restores and grows relationships. Romans 12:10 says, Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfast in prayer, distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
