On a Wing and a Chair

It’s been two years since Katie Simmons got her master’s degree in museum studies and she still isn’t working. Opportunity strikes when Katie’s grandmother offers her a job curating the museum for their shared collegiate sorority. Perform well, and board members will find Katie a bigger, better job. Katie promised herself she’d never move back to Beaumont, Georgia, but she can’t afford to say no. The first task: track down and buy eight, hand-carved, nineteenth-century chairs, created for the sorority’s founding members. Alt-rocker Syd Collins finds herself with two of the chairs when her cherished grandmother dies leaving an estate full of eclectic possessions. Syd’s niece, Sophie, makes the connection, and Syd and Katie arrange to meet. Sparks fly, and Syd spontaneously offers to help Katie find the remaining chairs.
