A Broken Promise

Prince Yolotzin and his childhood friend Kajaan pledged themselves to each other as boys, but their childhood fantasy fell apart when the prince met his Fated. Even though he's heartbroken, Kajaan plans to continue serving his prince and holding out hope that his own Fated might appear one day. But the king has other plans, and Kajaan is sent on a mission from which he is never meant to return. After barely escaping with his life, Kajaan has no one to turn to except the intimidating King Cadeyrn.

Cadeyrn never expected to find love again after the death of his wife, and he contented himself with serving his kingdom and raising his children, ignoring his loneliness and longing.
