Ashland County was created in 1846 from portions of Huron, Lorain, Richland and Wayne Counties. This book is similar to other history books of the ear. The first section cover a through history of the county covering such things as: Indians, treaties, pioneer history, involvement in the War of 1812, education, religion, formation of county, Militia, Newspapers, commerce, list of property owners of 1825 along with other items of genealogical interest. The second section is devoted to 235 biographical sketches of these early settlers from the county. The third section is a series of detailed histories of the various towns of the county.
