Ethan Wright is a normal, sixteen-year-old student at Bellport High School. He doesn’t have to worry about the day-to-day struggles that the evolutionals in his world have to face just for existing. Or does he?
When Ethan accidentally crosses paths with an evolutional, he’s attacked for reasons he doesn’t understand, and now he’s forced to face the consequences. He’s not only having to learn just how misunderstood evolutionals are but also how to exist as one himself, as a devastator. Between struggling to control himself, adjusting with recent changes, and finding a place among the general population as well as evolutionals, now he has to worry about the Evolutionals Containment and Executions Unit, or ECEU, coming after him. His friends Miles and Haley, and his new friend, Connor, will do whatever it takes to give him the support he needs to be able to thrive and survive–that is, until Ethan finds himself captured and under the control of the ECEU’s Aerial Hunting Team’s captain, Thomas Rhomes.
Rhomes has a strong reputation around the ECEU, so when he brings up a plan that would require Ethan to be a new addition to his team, things get really complicated. Whether it’s to use him as a tool for finding other evolutionals, or as a shield for his team, the idea of adding an evolutional to their team would provide a unique opportunity for Ethan, but only if Ethan is willing to cooperate. Rhomes and his team have a history of dealing with devastators like Ethan, so it’s only natural for him to be his handler. With Rhomes’s guidance and role as the team’s captain, life just gets really interesting for everyone involved.
