Set in an alternate version of 1960s America, A Cat Named James follows the journey of one cat’s struggle to deal with the hopelessness of loss following the Cold War turning hot. Living with a perfect family, he wakes one morning to find his world in chaos to the backdrop of a surprise nuclear attack. Separated from his family, he must now not only combat the wasteland he now inhabits but must overcome inner struggles to deal with his new reality. Separated from the ones he loves and with all he has ever known now destroyed, he must fight onwards in a bitter struggle not only for his survival but to overcome the darkness and find the elusive promise of hope.

E.S. Skallace is a Savannah native who enjoys writing, maritime history, and philosophy. Having worked in many industries and seen many sides of life around the old city he was born in, he currently spends his days writing and caring for his loved ones.
