This is a biography of James C. Kopp who shot and accidentally killed Buffalo abortionist Barnet Slepian in 1998. It covers, among other things, his childhood, his college and love life, and his science career. Then it goes into his gradual move from agnostic to Catholicism to public anti-abortion activism. Finally, Jim tells us the how and why of his clandestine work, including sabotage, that led to Buffalo.
There is no controversy here. There are no salacious "true crime" or practical details in the book. It is, instead, the journey of a soul who could not stand idle while young people were being murdered and mothers were being damaged.
I am a retired teacher and Jim's friend for thirty years. He lived with me occasionally during the Operation Rescue years, 1988-92, and I've emailed, written, and visited him innumerable times since his incarceration in 1998.
