Gleeson and Cormac are two frogs who live in a lily-covered pond in the heart of a beautiful green park. One day the two curious frogs decide to go off on an adventure and explore the park where their peaceful pond is located. As they explore their lush, green surroundings, Gleeson and Cormac come across several people in the park who are crying. Yet much to Gleeson and Cormac’s confusion, the people in the different scenarios appear to be crying for different reasons. Some tears appear happy, while others are sad. Gleeson and Cormac use their iPads to research different reasons people cry. When it’s time to go home, the two frogs use the GPS on their phones to plot their course. To their dismay, they do not know how to make it work! Luckily they meet Rachel, a female frog from a nearby pound who helps them program their GPS properly, setting the stage for friendship and future adventures. Engaging characters and a sensitive approach to the reasons for crying, a topic rarely discussed with young readers, make this book a natural for launching valuable discussions. - Linda Reeves, Reading Teacher, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Parents, teachers, and counselors can use these delightful frogs that Molly O'Rourke and her illustrator have put to work to help children negotiate the emotions and the healing of their tears. - Enrique Lamadrid, author and cultural historian, Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese, University of New Mexico. After graduating from nursing school in Phoenix, AZ, Molly O'Rourke moved to Gallup, NM where she lived and worked for 21 years with Indian Health Service. Now retired, she lives in Albuquerque, NM with her writer partner Zane Reeves. She has a son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. Publisher’s website: http://sbprabooks.com/MollyORourke
