Clues of the Caribbees

Dr. Henry Poggioli is a psychology instructor at the Ohio State University, taking his sabbatical year with a trip through the Caribbean. On island after island, he is drawn into strange circumstances and dangerous mysteries. As an amateur detective, his investigations show he is no Sherlock Holmes, and even when he comes to the right conclusion, the results do not always go to plan.

T. S. Stribling writes realistically about race relations in these stories, so some characters reflect racist attitudes by using caricatures and epithets, but he imbues his protagonist, Poggioli, with a reflective and humanitarian mindset.
