The book’s major event was Muffy stealing out of the house to the park, without thinking of the possible danger to himself, or, how it would affect his mom, the cat, the mouse and their friends.

Muffy’s mom’s handling of the situation demonstrates a range of emotions, fear, anger, relief, concern, and forgiveness. She disapproved of his behavior, but, not of him.
