Anatomy of Mass Media is a new anthology for the undergraduate Introduction to Mass Communication course. The selections included in Anatomy of Mass Media are culled from some of the most popular textbooks in higher education today and written by some of the most respected writers in media studies. The book covers all categories of mass media, from print media (books, magazines, and newspapers), to electronic media (radio, film, and television) and digital media (internet, satellite, and gaming). In addition to the diverse educational writers contributing to this anthology, a number of creative professionals give guidance on pursuing careers in entertainment, the persuasion industries, and media at large. Dianah Wynter is an associate professor at California State University, Northridge where she teaches in the Department of Cinema and Television Arts. Courses she has taught include Advanced Television Directing, Introduction to Television Production, Media and Society, and Introduction to Mass Media Film as Literature. Wynter holds MFAs from the American Film Institute and the Yale School of Drama. She has received an Emmy Nomination for Best Director for Daddys Girl, (an ABC television movie) and has directed many hours of episodic television, including Showtimes hit series Soul Food, The Secret World of Alex Mack, and The Parkers. Her feature film HappySad opens theatrically in 2009 in the Caribbean.
