Miguel De La Torre Jr.‘s life represents a true example of the Mexican American struggle living in the United States and overcoming obstacles every step up the way. Facing hardships at a very young age witnessing his parents being killed at as they struggled to migrate back into the United States. Being raised by an adopted family where he had to work at various odd jobs and constantly being pulled out of school to earn his stay. Instead joining the Military and making it a career where he served our nation for 24 years. In the Military Miguel’s continued to work hard facing many challenges however he managed to move up in ranks, land in positions of leadership, and earned several recognition as he serve during two Wars. Miguel De La Torre Jr.’s life is not only an inspiration to his children, the Mexican American community, but to all whom have come from tough up bringing having to face many hardships and despite the difficult cards they were dealt with making the decision to over come their past and seek a better future for themselves.
