Molding character into a life was a great goal for this author. Having raised five wonderful sons, Glenda looked at her students’ needs and based their education on practical skills for transitioning to adulthood. Many learned to take responsibility for their own choices. From time to time, Glenda still hears about the fruit of her labors. Her caring extends far beyond these few accounts. She has spent a number of years mentoring students in the public schools, tutoring math students, and teaching God’s word to women in rehab at a local mission. As she enters the decade of her 80’s, new challenges are on the drawing board. Each new day is one that the Lord has made. God’s wisdom will continue to help her touch the lives of others. Carolyn Messmer Glenda was born into a military family stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. When the bombing of Pearl Harbor occurred it changed her life as well as the lives of all Americans. Life with their Dad at sea was the norm as they lived in military towns, eventually moving to Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola was the home of both of her parents and she became surrounded by a large loving family. After graduating from Florida State University, she married and began the life of a military wife. Eventually there were five sons and a lot of ball games, scratched limbs, homework and many good times as they grew up. This was the training needed to look into the lives of young people and give guidance, acceptance, and encouragement in order that they achieve success in life and reach their potential. Today she resides in the family home, volunteering her time to help others wherever she sees a need. Her favorite passage of scripture is Romans 8:28.
