When we examine the sociological progress of civilization during the last two centuries and that we compared to the technological progress for the same period of time, we can observe a very significant gap. And if the sociological progress is markedly behind the highly efficient technology advances, it is because of limiting factors, too numerous to all be addressed in this essay. But among these limiting factors, there is one in particular that has a dominant effect on civilization. I mean coercion and its corrosive effect on any socio-cultural entity. We find coercion at all levels of society. I will only briefly touch on all these levels. It is too large to be tackle in a single volume. Rather, I will focus my efforts and treat in-depth of one aspect of society: our school system.
