This book describes real experiences and events that happened over a half century of long distance running. Some are amusing like winning a race outright because the front runner ran the wrong way. Others bizarre like running a 5 mile race in a windchill of -50 degreesF. All are different they provide background to an ever changing sport - long distance running and racing. (Some distance past 4 miles the course came to a T junction, runners had to turn right or left. The correct turn was to the left. As the runner ahead of me reached the junction he slowed down and seemed to waver. There were no volunteers visible nor was there a direction sign, at that point I realized he didn't know which way to turn.)
