Create Recovery with the Savior Journal

My name is Kelly Thompson and I’m a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. Because my addictions began early in my life, I am a high school drop out with a GED level education. As a young child, I had a passion for writing and was encouraged to pursue it as a career by my father. After he passed away in 1990, I gave up on my dream of becoming a writer. Twenty-five years later, while homeless, near death, and in the throes of heroin and meth addiction, my father visited me. He told me that I would survive and that I would go home to my family. He also told me that I would write something that would make a difference in people’s lives and that my experience would help others. Between Monsters and Mercy is the story of my addiction, unlikely recovery, and journey back to the Savior and my faith. I believe it is the story my father told me I would write.
