This book recounts the History of Torry - an Aberdeen Suburb from its days as a fishing village to the vital industry hub and community it is today. The book contains many interesting facts about the origins of the village and the lives of the inhabitants. It tells of the area's early industries such as fishing and brick making. It relates how the introduction of new industries and technologies in the 19th and 20th century caused the village to rapidly expand and of how it eventually became a casualty of those changes. The book recounts the events that led to the Torry Ferry disaster which claimed the lives of 32 people. And for good measure it also contains information about the origin of the rowie, teaching conditions in the 19th century and the last pistol duel fought in the North East of Scotland. This is an expanded and updated version of the book originally published in 2006.
