With only a few exceptions, “Continuity” contains poems written in the Nineties and after 2000. Two of the poems contained are compound poems, single poems having multiple sections or movements. One is “Butterfly.” The other is “Continuity,” which makes up Part II of this volume. As with so many of Mr. Carlson’s poems, these poems deal with religious themes and images, but in a non-sectarian way.
