Orson Welles
Orson Welles’ remarkable career as director, producer, screenwriter, author, and actor may have caused some to forget his days in radio theater. This set is a wonderful reminder. Welles’ marvelous voice, moving in pitch and tone, is closer to music than speech. Best of all are Welles’ introductions to the stories, in particular that of H. G. Wells, as Orson recalls his historic radio reading of The War of the Worlds. A delightful collection and a tribute to Welles’ talent. Included in this collection: Wakefield by Nathaniel Hawthorne The Red Room by H.G. Wells The Secret Sharer by Joseph Conrad Sredni Vashtar by Saki Letter to the Reverend Dr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe The Way through the Woods by Rudyard Kipling Mandalay by Rudyard Kipling Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde
