My family and I have owned property on Gambier Island since 1979 and, in the passing years, have seen the community evolve into what we recognize today. Bill Errico Jr. has lived here most of his life and, on many occaions, has commented on the ever-changing nature of the population. Thankfully, he has chosen to collect photographs, stories, objects and opinions (there is never any lack of them) that span several generations of Gambierites, preserving in the process, an explanation of how we got to here, from there. It is a facinating study of what is, essentially, village life. Miramar II: Gambier Islands’s History continues the story, so refreshingly begun with his first book, Miramar: A History of Gambier Island. Congratulations Bill. It is a splendid read. Richard Potter Gambier Harbour, 2011.
