I wanted a sense of relationship in this book so that small children can understand that even they have a responsibility to be a role model to their younger siblings. It is imperative to have a leadership mentality such as demonstrated by the child Asia in my book. With our growing military, we are always fighting for our freedom or protecting the rights for someone in their particular country. There is a great deal of symbolisms between our country America and the child Asia in my story. The same way Our country feels compelled to help other countries who may not be able to fend for themselves, the young Asia guided her little sister. I decided to incorporate in my story as one whose brother served active duty in the armed forces. Many times listening to my young and curious nieces ask each other the constant question about where is mommy and daddy, and when are they coming home. As their parent or parents depart on their military duty.
