With a historical sketch entitled Prologue to the Crisis, this book gives a complete account of the Manchurian Frontiers from the earliest days and the growth and final meeting of the Russian and Chinese Empires in the Amur Regions. This volume is a compilation of 32 letters written by B. L. Putnam Weale (pseudonym for Bertram Lenox Simpson) during his travels to Manchuria to dispel the curious mystery surrounding the Muscovite in the Manchu’s home.
