On the Worship and Love of God

Published in 1864, ‘Treating of the Birth of the Earth, of Paradise, and of Living Creatures’; and ‘Also of the Nativity, the Infancy, and the Love of the First-Begotten or Adam’, is a work by Emanuel Swedenborg, the noted Swedish scientist, philosopher and theologian, who is best known for his later writings in which he presents ideas both Christian and ecumenical, for a new spiritual era or new church to be known as the New Jerusalem. On the Worship and Love of God is a tale in poetic prose that blends spiritual insight with natural philosophy. Although often overshadowed by other works of Swedenborg’s, this work is a force in its own right and demonstrates that our love is the finest worship we can offer God.
