This is a collection of short stories written when I found myself revisiting the mildewed memories of the summers spent in Petersfield, Manitoba with my maternal Grandmother, Memere, my mother and brother and my Auntie Emma and her children. The stories take place during the 1950’s and 60’s when Memere ran our lives during the peak heat of summer during those weeks of toil, prayer, insect bites, arguments, embarrassment, romance and laughter. I’m sure we can all remember when we found every moment brought a newness along with the same old and now can look back and smile with the memories, because in some cases, that is all we have left of such places.
