21st-Century Robotics

The articles in this anthology deftly illustrate how robots come in all different shapes and sizes. One article discusses the unique challenges of a race through the Mojave desert between robots built out of military and sport-utility vehicles while another features the research and development of tiny robots called millibots that are no bigger than a matchbox car. Some robots are still finding their identity on the drawing board like PC-Bots that will be easily programmable with interchangeable parts, and some are happily cruising along the red, dusty surface of Mars like NASA’s Spirit rover. Several excellent diagrams and illustrations that make the robots come alive for the reader are included.
