Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington (1882-1944) was an English physicist and astronomer. He was also a successful popularizer of science. Eddington was the first to theorize that fusion of hydrogen into helium was the Sun's source of energy, a key development in astrophysics. He was an early expounder and advocate of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. In 1919, he lead an expedition to Principe which provided key confirmation of Einstein. "Space, Time and Gravitation: An Outline of the General Relativity Theory" is brief summary of the ideas and concepts underlying general relativity. Although written primarily for a lay audience, it includes mathematical descriptions of several key concepts. Eddington also provides an account of his expedition to Principe and its results. This book is in the Deseret Alphabet, a phonetic alphabet for writing English developed in the mid-19th century at the University of Deseret (now the University of Utah).
