David Holiday leaves Brooklyn after his father's death and moves to the Midwest. He marries an artist named Lulu and takes a job at a computer firm where he becomes disillusioned. The marriage falls apart and David embarks on an extended road trip, ultimately returning to New York to turn inward and resolve what he left behind.
