The purpose of this collection of stories is to set out in chronological order some of the stories that I told my grandchildren and to put them into a cultural framework and chronological timeline so they might make sense to them when they go back and read them, but also so that those beyond my immediate family with an interest in a childhood lived long ago might read these stories in the context of their own growing up and might see in them a reflection of their own early years.
