Liu's main works include Historical Records of the Ban Family, Zhang Xuecheng talks on Han Shu, The Development of the Ballads of the Ming-Qing Period, etc. In this book, his 17 essays on history of Ming-Qing period, two earlier memoirs and 6 poems are included.
