The northwest section of the sixth floor of Phoenix Burton Barr Library contains a wonderful collection of biographies and autobiographies. Over the years after reading a number of them and comparing them to biographies written by a competent author, one often sees conflicts with the autobiography. People who tell the story of their life are apt to employ a creative memory. They are likely to tell of grand accomplishments and noble deeds and to pass over some of their embarrassing history. My autobiography will be the story of a life of a noble, dignified, gallant, talented man whose exploits inspire awesome admiration from my readers. My story could be titled "The Fictional Diary of W.J.S." or perhaps "The Adventures of a Man Too Proud to Be Afraid."
