Part I: Journey Beyond Crimea During the Crimean War, Captain Lloyd Players and the 37th Calvary are dispatched for the defense of the seaport of Uvsklatin. Scouts reported that the Russians are headed towards them and Players makes the decision to attack them on the outskirts to avoid needless destruction, as sentient eyes watch over them. Making the dishonorable choice to sneak into the Russian encampment and sabotaging as many weapons as possible, he is forced to charge the enemy to save three of his men still inside. Cannon fire explodes next to Players, as he and his horse drop into a swampland, seemingly on another world. Being escorted by ahalf-peoplea who lead him to an archway on the open prairie and surviving an attack by the Gaffaelai, they enter the archway and into the village of Holihand. After meeting Practitioner Maderick and Magistrate Etecorn, he is asked to help defeat Kanstoris, a young, insane boy from Manchester, England, from the year 1998. After learning that Kanstorisa army was only three daysa travel from them, he tries to elicit the help of Poxtervole and the Slonc community. Maderick relays to Players that the attack tunnel is ready, as he prepares to receive a new blade, Englandas Fury. They attack the enemy and surround Kanstoris, as Maderick, via magic, sends him to a hospital and Players is sent back to Crimea. Part II: Journey Beyond Time Ten years have passed since Players was in Uvsklatin. Maderick appears and explains how certain achaotic time wavesa will affect them and wishes them good luck. Players finds himself in an NBC broadcasted NFL playoff game, suited as a San Francisco 49er player. He finds out he is a rookie quarterback and believes itas a rugby match, when he is blitzed and has temporary delirium. Simon asks Players if he can go with Maderick to be protected and, as night falls, dinner time becomes unusually quiet, until a food fight ensues. All of them sense another atime crash,a as Players is seated in a C-47, flying over the Normandy beachhead during WWII and becomes a producer for a reality show called The Simple Farm.
