Emily Weatherspoon has come to the day that most people loathe. It is time to say good-bye to her old life of independence and move into an assisted nursing home. Through all of the packing, her faithful granddaughter, Megan, has been there to soothe her fears and collect her memories. Yet, there is one memory that Emily thought would never be conjured up again. When Megan stumbles across an old picture frame lying in a box, she takes it to her grandmother and asks her who the man is. Emily is stunned at first to see the handsome face smiling back at her. Megan will not let her pass it off as nothing. She wants to know the story behind those eyes and the scars on his face. So, Emily begins to tell her the story, a story from her youth, a story of when first love burned bright.
