My Candles and Other Poems (1903)

The author is trying to reveal their pain. Mr. Washington wants to attract people of all kinds, especially those who will listen. He has faith that his writing will lead him in that direction. Mr. Washington has written other books, but this one is special. It deals with the struggle of poverty. The young and old suffer. The author includes personal testimonies.
