The Canadian Rebellion of 1837 (1896)

Dr. Taylor Livingston’s lab assistant is brutally murdered, employees are poisoned after drinking coffee in the cafeteria, and homeless street people die of the same substance. Among the suspects are her fiancA©, the dashing Professor Andropolis, a disgruntled student, the man she had arrested for assaulting her, and even her adored half-brother. Police theorize the culprit is someone after the formula worth millions for converting pulp to fabric, a fanatic out to bring down the paper industry, or a person bent on revenge. Then, a simple-minded janitor, with the victim’s blood on his uniform, confesses. The day the formula is perfected, Taylor collapses and is drugged and held captive in an old mansion with no way to escape. There she discovers who the guilty party really is and the diabolical scheme to destroy her. A bizarre twist ends the nightmare.
