Sophie Freeman awoke from a deep sleep last night, terrified by a dream she can’t recall. Unknown to her, the dream pulled a thread from the tight, rule-obedient fabric of her existence and the unraveling of her life began. Today, she’s on her way to Yaupon Beach for what she expects will be another ordinary two-week vacation, when she sees a man walking alone on the side of the road.
