Our Native Orchids: A Series of Drawings from Nature of All the Species Found in the Northeastern United States (1905)

As the war between the states is nearing an end, Captain William Clay lies in a hospital. He wonders about where he’s been and where he’s going with his life. As his wounds heal, he decides to head west to Colorado, where a man with a gun can start over, but what he finds is his past, present, and future colliding into one. Along the way it is a journey filled with love and uncertainty accompanied with gun smoke, truth, and honor. In a small town in the Rockies, he becomes the sheriff and hopes to right some of the wrongs of his youth. Along the way he meets the love of his life and begins the adventure of a lifetime with a faithful friend by his side.
