Sun Glints in the Wilderness (1872)

Charles Brunelle and Caroline Johnson, once engaged to be married, both return to their hometown with an urgency to see Charles’ mother who lay dying. Still in love, but shadowed by demons not of their making, they maintain an awkward peace. Sarah Brunelle, deeply troubled by family skeletons, seeks to uncover the white lies that destroyed her brother’s hope of happiness and sustained a shroud of sorrow that hovered over her mother’s life.
