Journal of a Botanical Excursion in the Northeastern Parts of the States of Pennsylvania and New York, During the Year 1807 (1869)

One day, my brother, John, was young, healthy and full of life and the next he was losing his battle with cancer. It all started with a small dark spot on my brother’s wrist and a diagnosis of melanoma skin cancer. There would be many MRIs, CT scans, surgeries and a line of never-ending doctors. Within five years of finding that small, minute spot on his wrist, that spot would overtake my brother’s body and eventually take his life. This certainly wasn’t how I expected things to turn out. Life had so much more living to offer my brother. Life missed out.
