It also contains a story about Napoleon that his father told him when he was a child; The Trail of the Sword, a historical novel, tells the early history of the struggles between the French and English and the North American Continent. In the story he gives the advantage to his gallant French adventurer’s chivalrous but somewhat merciless soul, since it draws a better picture than his more phlegmatic but brave and honourable antagonist, George Gering.
