It is inculcated in such texts as these?texts which are often sadly overlooked or disobeyed, but involving rules and principles which true piety must needs enforce on the human conscience, which God’s converting and sanctifying grace has led many to observe in the conduct of their lives, and which, by the outpouring of his Holy Spirit, will yet be far more generally and far more effectually learned? Seek peace and pursue it;

God hath called us to peace;

Let us follow after the things that make for peace;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace;

Follow peace with all men;

The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace;

The wisdom that is from above is … peaceable;

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. And it seems to be specially in reference to this social peace?which God’s law prescribes and his Spirit produces? that He is called
