A collection of texts, sounds and images produced in response to the motif of listening.

Inspired by a Luigi Nono fragment, LISTENING is Expressionless Objects’ first print (and multi-media!) edition: a collection of texts, sounds and images produced in response to the motif of listening.

Both in form and in content, the project sought to interrogate the radically interruptive and de-systematizing possibilities of acts of listening. Submission guidelines were largely open-ended; the arrangement of the responses remains intentionally unsystematic and asymmetrical. The resulting pieces and conversations within all involve or reflect on acts of listening in various and sometimes incompatible ways. Pieces resonate variously with concerns in art, ethics, humor, society, family, politics and the realities of everyday life.

Compiled and edited by D. Taylor, B. Shear and Y. Mannarelli.

Jacket/cover design by Jack Andrews.
